Spencer, Stanley.  A Stanley Spencer almanack. London: Chatto & Windus, The Hogarth Press, 1983. 16mo (17 cm, 6.75"). Unpaginated; illus.
$20.00

A small almanac with intricate pen-and-ink drawings depicting pastoral scenes from English painter Stanley Spencer (1891–1959) that first appeared in 1926. The 25 drawings would be the only illustrations he would produce for any book. Following the publication of the almanac, Spencer transformed several of the well-received drawings into major paintings. This new edition omits a "List of Recent Books," as well as the days of the week, in order for the almanac to be applicable for any year.

Quarter black paper with gilt lettering to spine with marbled paper sides. In original glassine dust-jacket; a bit edgeworn. Interior lightly age-toned.  (40465)   Please RESHELVE This.
