Simmons, Samuel Foart; Jozé Bento Lopes, trans.  Observaçoes sobre a cura da gonorrhea virulenta ... Porto: Offic. de Viuva Mallen, Filhos, e Companhia, 1794. 12mo (16.6 cm, 6.55"). xv, [1], 169, [5 (index & errata)] pp.

The first and only Portuguese appearance of Observations on the Cure of the Gonorrhoea. The author (1750–1813) was a fellow of both the Royal Society and the Society of Antiquaries and served as physician to St. Luke's Hospital, where his accomplishments in treating mental illness led to his becoming physician extraordinary to King George III in 1804. His present treatise, first printed in English in 1780, quickly spread throughout Europe, appearing in several languages (French in 1783, Spanish in 1784, and Italian in 1785); the Portuguese translator (ca. 1760?–1800) was himself a physician and professor of medicine, having received his training at the University of Coimbra, and added his own notes to the text.
This => sole Portuguese edition is now scarce: WorldCat finds only two institutions reporting copies (Wellcome and the National Library of Medicine). It comes from the press of the Widow Mallen

Later from the residue of the stock of the F. Thomas Heller bookselling firm (est. ca. 1928).
