The sole German-language printing of Hill's treatise on the herbal drug valerian, used to treat sleep disorders, anxiety and psychological stress. Hill (1714–75), a noted botanist and apothecary, published Valerian, or, the Virtues of that Root in Nervous Disorders; and the Characters which Distinguish the True from the False in 1758 during the period he was enjoying the patronage of Lord Bute.
The work features two => simply lovely hand-colored folding plates of the plant, one of which is signed "A.L.W., sc."
