Galtier was a pilot and engineer. And in the early days of aviation, pilots were often expected to be like Galtier and his handbook is designed for those who could both fly and repair their planes. It shows altimeters, engine blocks, etc., lists common problems and suggests solutions and quick repairs, as well as giving tips on flying and maneuvering.
