A sweetly decorated cloth binding for this wholesome schoolgirl tale. Frances Campbell Sparhawk (1847–1930) wrote a series of "Dorothy Brooke" novels, this being the first featuring the heroine. American illustrator => Frank T. Merrill provided eight illustrations, including the frontispiece, to the story.
Binding: Publisher's periwinkle cloth with gilt lettering, spine with autumn leaf decoration stamped in orange, brown and black; front board with brown lettering and a semicircle stamped in black framing an elegant Gibson Girl profile surrounded by autumn leaves.
