An extract from the author's Reveries of a Bachelor, the third reverie "A Cigar Three Times Lighted" is here published separately for the first time and presented in a pretty, floral binding, with four color plates (including the frontispiece) signed by W.E.B. Starkweather and border decorations. Mitchell (1822–1908), under the pseudonym "Ik Marvel," reflects on boyhood, marriage and life in his reveries.
Binding: Publisher's grey cloth with gilt lettering and three blue-stamped, clustered flowers with small yellow-stamped stems growing from larger green-stamped stems on the front board. Top edge gilt, fore- and bottom edge untrimmed. Signed by "W.S." -- i.e.
Provenance: On front free endpaper, the signature of "Geo. W. Porter" dated December 25, 1907. Underneath in the same hand, "Martha T. Porter, Aberdeen, S.D."

Not in Smith, American Fiction. Bound as above; extremities lightly rubbed, tiny scrapes and very minor dirtying to boards. Small spots of soiling to front endpapers. A very good copy.  (38283)   Please RESHELVE This.
