Highly illustrated: Life studies by Jans Matzene, views by Eugene J. Hall. Many in -text and headpiece illustrations and 26 plates. Romantic verse from the best-selling author of the immortal "Laugh, and the world laughs with you; / Weep, and you weep alone" (and also of that inadvertent source of humor, "My soul is a lighthouse keeper"). Though never favored by critics, Wilcox enjoyed an enormous readership and the adoration of many who found resonance in her positive, optimistic spiritualism.
        Binding: Pale blue cloth lettered in gilt and black outlined in gilt; a medieval manuscript inspired "M" beginning "Maurine" on front cover and with trailing floral vine in dark blue, red, and gold. Top edge gilt.
