Biography of the poet, hymn composer, linguist, and missionary Sarah Hall Boardman Judson, who translated The Pilgrim's Progress into Burmese and the New Testament into Peguan. The author of this account had married the subject's widower in 1846; she was better known under her nom de plume for poetry and fiction, Fanny Forrester. This is first edition.

Publisher's brown cloth stamped in blind and with gilt center device on front cover of an angel above a group of our people including a tall woman, with a "Burmese" city in the distance. Binding worn; ex-library copy with call number on plastic label on spine; rubber stamps. Front hinge (inside) open. Stains and age-toning.
